Hello from Limerick

Today was a day for the camera.  Wherever we went there was beautiful scenery, from the gorgeous green pastures to the waters of the Dingle Peninsula.  It was all stunning.  We left Tralee this morning and made our way through the Dingle Peninsula.

The weather was a bit dull and misting slightly but this just made the scenery all the more mysterious.

This was a wonderful little town called Dingle.  We stopped here for coffee and souvenir shopping.

Some more scenic vistas following Dingle on our way backtracking a bit to stopping at Killarney. The air is quite warm in this region, due to Gulf Stream currents, so plants grow very well here.  In the hedgerows grow fuscia, there is purple heather, lots of bracken and also yellow gorse, not so popular in other countries as it grows out of control.

Arriving at Killarney, we were met by this beautiful cathedral.

and then we took a ride on the Jaunting Cars through the Killarney National Park, through which no motorised vehicles may go.  Our drivers name was Timmy and the horse was called Sally.  On the ride we saw some wildlife, like red deer, and yet another 12th century Norman built castle, called Ross Castle.

This was Timmy, quite a character!

We spent some time and having some lunch in lovely Killarney and then made our way driving through Abbeyfeale, Newcastle West and stopped at Adare where we came across thatched roof cottages for the first time.

Now we are staying in LImerick for the night and heading off shortly to find some dinner.
