Liverpool

Yesterday we had to board another ferry from Ireland back across to Wales, landing on the  isle of Anglesey . This is the SeaCat we were meant to go on, but for some reason it was cancelled and we had to take the big ferry, luckily for me, because it was potentially a bit bumpy with quite rough weather going on.  It turned out to be fine as long as I didn't get up from my chair.  We wondered if this sea cat had been built in Tasmania .

We got off the ferry and headed back into Wales, to a railway station with the longest name anywhere.

This is what it means in English.

After a quick stop here, we headed to Chester, another beautiful city with amazing old architecture.  We had a walking tour through here and then some free time.

During our free time, we went into the old cathedral, built in the 17th century.  The ceilings....

the quire.....

the stained glass....

Sadly we spent only about 8 minutes here, but what an experience,

Next our journey went to LIverpool, another interesting place, famous of course for the Fab Four!  again more beautiful buildings.

We had another guided tour here with a great tour guide who was one of the first graduates of Paul McCartneys LIPA, school of performing arts.  She had a wonderful accent.

Here we are in front of The Cavern nightclub, which is where the Beatles played frequenly.  It is not the original one, that one was destroyed when the building on top of it was razed for redevelopment.  This is closeby to the first one and in a underground of a warehouse as was the other.  We popped down and had a look.....

There is lots of memorabilia around, although not only of the Beatles.  Just outside the nightclub is a wall with everyone who ever played
at the Cavern etched into the bricks, you may know some of these....

.

And then it was time for home and I would like to point out that it was a chip free day.
