Today we have had a wonderful time looking at pretty things. Waterford is the home of Waterford Crystal, which sadly they don't make in Ireland anymore, rather it is made in Poland. This is just a sample, and I would have loved to have bought a chandelier to hang in our hallway. They were just superb!
We left Waterford and then had a quick stop at Youghal, where the movie Moby Dick was filmed.
We then drove through Cork, where they like to paint their houses in pretty colours so they can easily find the way home after one or two many guinness, or so the tour director told us.
Not far from Cork is the amazing Blarney Castle, where you can kiss the Blarney Stone and then achieve the gift of Eloquence.
This castle is surrounded by magnificent gardens. The Blarney Stone is up high on the square building and you have to climb up a tiny, cylindrical staircase to get there, which Paul did, although he wasn't keen on any kissing. You lean out backwards over a little ledge and reach out to kiss the stone. The views were spectacular I am told, because I was not up for those stairs.
